Since moving to France, I’ve been dying to learn how to cook like a real Parisian. There are so many amazing French recipes out there, but these are my top 10 that I will one day master, with a bit of luck!
French Recipes
French Onion Soup – this is my favorite fall and winter soup in Paris. It’s made with a delicious onion broth and often has bread floating inside and a top layer of melted cheese.
Croque Monsieur – this hot French sandwich is made with bread, ham, and cheese. Even though it’s considered a standard lunch meal, I enjoy it so much every time I eat it!
Canard Confit – Duck is my favorite dinner-time meal in France. This dish comes from Gascony and is often served with mashed potatoes on the side.
Gratin Dauphinois – This French dish is made using sliced baked potatoes with cheese and milk.
Coq au Vin – This meaty French dinner dish consists of chicken that is braised with Burgundy wine, mushrooms, and garlic.
Quiche Lorraine – This light French egg custard dish can have different fillings but most often it’s made with ham and cheese. Spinach, goat cheese, and zucchini are other popular quiche fillings.
Salade Niçoise – This southern French salad has become popular all over France. It’s made with Mediterranean ingredients like lettuce, eggs, tuna, tomatoes, and olives.
Ratatouille – Ratatouille is a warm healthy Provençale dish made with zucchini, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, garlic, and local herbs.
Tartiflette – Tartiflette is a warm French Alps dish made with potatoes, cheese, lardons, and onions perfect for cold winters.
Chicken Paillard – Elevate chicken the French way with this fresh spring chicken dish.
